The country will get its powerful indigenous aircraft carrier IAC Vikrant today i.e. on 2nd September 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hand it over to the Indian Navy in Kochi. Aircraft carrier means floating air force station in the sea.

First of all know about its weapons…
IAC Vikrant can fire 32 Barak-8 missiles. Launching is done from Vertical System (VLS). Surface-to-air Barak missiles can be fired for attack or defense from 500 meters to 100 km. The detonation system of the missile carrying a warhead of 60 KG is hard to kill. Its maximum speed is 2469 km per hour.

After this, it gets four Otobreda 76 mm dual purpose cannons. Run it remotely. It is a 76.2 millimeter caliber cannon. Can rotate 360 degrees and fire at enemy aircraft, helicopters, fighter jets or warships. Its range is from 16 to 20 kilometers.
Apart from this, four AK 630 CIWS Point Defense System guns have been installed on Vikrant. It is a rotating cannon, which keeps firing by rotating in the direction of the target. Only one man is needed to run it. It fires at the rate of 10 thousand rounds per minute.
Now know about the capabilities of IAC Vikrant
INS Vikrant has been built at the Cochin Shipyard. Displacement is 45 thousand tonnes. It can carry 30 to 35 aircraft on itself. The length is 860 feet and the width is 203 feet. The total area is 2.5 acres. The maximum speed is 52 KM per hour. BrahMos missiles can also be deployed in future.
It has been fitted with General Electric turbines, which give it the power of 1.10 lakh horsepower. Its strike range is 1500 KM. But the sailing range is 15 thousand km. 76% indigenous materials have been used in making the aircraft carrier.
Fighter jets and helicopters stationed at Vikrant
MiG-29K fighter jets, American MH-60R multirole naval helicopters, Indian ALH Dhruv and Kamov Ka-31 AEW helicopters will be stationed at IAC Vikrant. MH-60R is also called Romeo helicopter. In the future, the world’s best naval fighter jets can also be deployed on it. For which war is currently going on in many fighter jets including Rafale, Super Hornet.
16 bed hospital is present at IAC Vikrant
There is a 16-bed hospital inside IAC Vikrant. There are two operation theatres. There are primary medical complexes. It has 40 compartments, which are spread all over the ship. CT scan, laboratory, ultrasonography, X-ray facilities are also available. Apart from this, there are also two dental chairs and treatment facilities. Our team consists of 5 medical officers and 16 paramedics.

State-of-the-art kitchen at IAC Vikrant which can prepare 5000 thali in a day. Kitchen appliances are automatic, in which they put the material and prepare the food themselves. 1500 to 1700 marines will be stationed on this warship at any time.
It has three galleys, which together can make 5000 miles in a day. That is, in case of emergency or war, no soldier will need to be engaged in the kitchen. In the kitchen, the sailors work continuously for 20 hours in three shifts.
Name taken from 1971 warship, whole country involved in making
Joining the Navy of IAC Vikrant is a historic opportunity for India. The warship with the same name was used in the 1971 war. Vikrant has been designed and manufactured both in the country. It has been equipped with best automated machines, operation, ship navigation and rescue system.
Along with Cochin Shipyard, 550 Indian companies have helped in making it. Apart from this, 100 MSME companies were also involved.
